Norton XTR safety stirrups: protection and efficiency in the saddle
The Norton XTR safety stirrups are designed for riders who want a real margin of safety, without making their operation more cumbersome. In concrete terms, for your horse and for you: you keep a stable support, with a system designed to limit the risk of trapped feet in the event of a fall.
The most important thing to look for is the 90° upward opening side arm: if the foot remains engaged at the wrong moment, the stirrup opens to facilitate rapid release. In fact, in the saddle, this is what really makes a difference on the track when it comes to reconciling safety and responsiveness.
Light, stable and comfortable to ride
Their high-grade synthetic aluminum construction provides a good balance between strength and lightness: the stirrup remains pleasant to use on a daily basis, without feeling unnecessarily heavy under the leg. I prefer this type of design when the rider rides often, changes discipline or is looking for equipment that's easy to live with.
With 422 g per stirrup, movement remains more fluid: you feel less inertia in the ankles and knees over a complete session. What the data sheet doesn't say is that a lighter stirrup is less tiring on the leg when you're riding flat, over jumps or working outdoors.
The 6.5 cm wide footbed offers a clearer support surface: the foot settles better and gains in stability. The non-slip sole secures the grip, helping to keep a more fixed leg, even if your horse has bounce or energy.
Stirrups are designed with a left and right side, identified by the letters L and R on the top: the orientation of the foot is more natural. This is preferable if your horse requires precision, as a well-placed support improves the legibility of your aids.
The 3.5 cm stirrup le athers fit most standard stirrup leathers: they are easy to fit and the position of the stirrup under the saddle remains consistent. In other words, you gain compatibility without having to redesign your entire equipment.
