Whips and spurs

The rider can use aids such as a whip and spurs to work the horse.  These aids should be used with care and respect for the horse.  The whip can be of different sizes and is held in the rider's hand with the reins. It allows the rider to signal to the horse that it should move faster.  The spurs are positioned on the boots/chaps facing backwards to support the rider's leg action. These accessories come in different shapes and sizes and are used in different equestrian disciplines.  Before trying spurs it is recommended that professional advice is sought as they can cause harm to the horse.
