This Pénélope Howlett rein helps to orientate the horse in the right attitude while respecting its locomotion. In practical terms, it encourages your horse to climb the topline without adding the disturbance of an overly present hand.
Somewhere between a martingale and a German rein, this system limits the risk of the horse over-extending or rising excessively. What really changes on the track is that it encourages a better-functioning back and a more stable attitude to work.
When the horse moves in the right direction, the reins give way immediately, and the contact reverts to bridle reins only. In fact, in the saddle, you keep a clear action and the horse is not locked in when he responds correctly.
A snap hook attaches to the central ring of the Pénélope martin-collier. Adjustment is simple via the rings, which are designed for two different positions on your reins.
What you need to look at first is thering you choose for attachment: it determines the opening of the head-neck angle. This is preferable if your horse needs a more or less open frame, depending on the session and the level of grip required.
Important: Howlett Pénélope is sold separately. The Howlett Pénélope martin collar and reins must be purchased separately for compatible use.
