WALDHAUSEN Viennese Reins W-trainRein
Vienna reins with pulleys for long rein work: supple leather, adjustable from 120 to 245 cm, progressive action that respects the horse's mouth.
Compound reins for lunging and long rein work
WALDHAUSEN W-trainRein compound reins are designed for long rein work, lunging and some mounted sessions. Specifically for your horse, they provide a more measured action and adapted adjustment from Shetland to Full size.
Pulley system: flexibility and control
The pulley system accompanies movement rather than closing abruptly. What really changes on the track is a more progressive flexion: the rein gives way first, then acts more gently than a fixed action.
The rein passes through the pulley, then back through the bridle rings, from inside to outside, before attaching to the girth or surcingle. In practice, in the saddle or on the lunge, this allows you to refine the inside action without overloading the mouth.
A good choice if your horse is just starting out, or needs to learn to carry himself without unnecessary strain. What the data sheet doesn't say is that this progressive adjustment often helps to keep a horse more available in his back.
Precise adjustment to horse size
Adjustable-length reins cover four sizes:
- Shetland (SH): approx. 120 to 150 cm, to keep the right contact on very small models
- Pony (Pon): approx. 150 to 175 cm, useful for keeping a clean action without floating
- Cob: approx. 180 to 215 cm, suitable for compact horses with an even set-up
- Full: approx. 205 to 245 cm, to accompany larger horses without limiting amplitude
The most important thing to look for is the right length between inside and outside rein. In concrete terms for your horse, you keep a sharper curve and more consistent contact when working in circles.
Soft, durable leather
Soft leather facilitates the passage of the reins through the hand and limits jerking. In practice, in the saddle, this makes the rein more pleasant to adjust and more stable over time if you work often.
Reinforced attachment points secure the assembly to a saddle girth or surcingle. What really makes a difference in use is the reliable installation, even during repeated lunging or progressive dressage sessions.
I prefer this model when you're looking for a tolerant Viennese rein, well thought out for long-distance work. Preferred if your horse needs a clear frame, without hard action or rough adjustment.
